Worth the look – a brief visit to Worth

This year – 2012 – 13 we have had some warmer days although this year so far our Saturday walks have been a mixture of mostly cold days interspersed with wet and cold, and some pleasant days with sunshine. Meopham Green – too early for cricket

Meopham is not far from Camar Country park, and is within walking distance of Trosley park and within easy driving distance of the Darent Valley. However, Meopham is one of those stations on the Southern line which you can pass through without thinking anymore about the place except that you are either closer to London or further away. Rainham Riverside Ramble

Although the Riverside Country Park is a nice place to walk the dog it seems as if the Dog Poo Fairy was absent. The piles of droppings deposited by the myriad canines was a definite distraction. At one point late in the afternoon the cloud was such that except for the reminder of the chimney stacks gazing out toward the mouth of the Medway it looked wild and uninhabited. Continue reading

River walk – Medway

The day was cold, and grey which made the river look a dull but as we had the idea to walk along the river anyway that did not detract from the walk, and we agreed that the exercise was good and we got to walk another part of the river. Continue reading

Memorabilia and chips

First impression was that we were looking at a building typical of the past glory of the region, perched on the cliff top with access to the sandy beaches, walks to Margate and Ramsgate and of course within easy reach by public transport and motor vehicle of local attractions. You walk in and the memorabilia is there decorating the entrance hall and the reception desk, the whole complimented by a fully operational trellis gated Otis lift. Continue reading

Along the Stour to Canterbury

Arrive perhaps in the morning and walk to the city, have lunch at one of the myriad cafes of pubs and explore the gardens and the streets before returning by bus to the park and ride. Continue reading
