Once there were Hovercraft…Pegwell Bay

Anyway, I am glad the hovercraft enterprise failed. As a rescue craft in swampy conditions the things are fine but as a commercial enterprise – yuk! I think I would prefer the Dover ferry boats or even the Viking ship. The treat is to walk along the circular route to the spur from where you can view seals basking on a sandbank. Continue reading

Memorabilia and chips

First impression was that we were looking at a building typical of the past glory of the region, perched on the cliff top with access to the sandy beaches, walks to Margate and Ramsgate and of course within easy reach by public transport and motor vehicle of local attractions. You walk in and the memorabilia is there decorating the entrance hall and the reception desk, the whole complimented by a fully operational trellis gated Otis lift. Continue reading

Rambling ‘Round Ramsgate

It was one of those days when the forecast promised precipitation, and so we went prepared, only to be pleasantly surprised by the clemency of the weather for the whole day. The other surprise was that when we went to pay for our parking we we told that it was free on Saturday. Now there is a thing. We will likely call again. The proposed construction will be expensive apartments and a boulevard of shops. New and ghastly looking fifties futuristic/Benidorm style buildings that will hide the blank cliff wall but maybe a boring expression of assumed affluence. Continue reading
