Burwash – not passing through

The amazing thing about most rural places is that at sometime you will see horses, as well as cattle and sheep in the paddocks, and often the horses are being ridden on a road. It was good to see two and vehicles doing it right and passing them properly – wide and slow – which makes the day worth it. Continue reading

The Eden Project

The Eden Project struck me as a unique and unusual place to be, a tourist in a crowd enjoying and learning – wow! Like so many thousands of visitors I stood on the viewing platform and waffled appreciatively – I think I said “******* hell! That is ******* beautiful!” After which I elected to walk across the bridge and down behind the Core Building, and as I strolled I realised that a one time visit on one day is nowhere near enough. Dodging the Dog Turds

There was so many doggie doo’s along that stretch of the public footpath we were forced to look where we put our feet. The law is that you got a dog, it drops its shit in a public place – you pick it up Moron! Half the path was a treacherous trap for the unwary. Yuk! I think I would prefer the Dover ferry boats or even the Viking ship. The treat is to walk along the circular route to the spur from where you can view seals basking on a sandbank. Continue reading

Rainham Riverside Ramble

Although the Riverside Country Park is a nice place to walk the dog it seems as if the Dog Poo Fairy was absent. The piles of droppings deposited by the myriad canines was a definite distraction. At one point late in the afternoon the cloud was such that except for the reminder of the chimney stacks gazing out toward the mouth of the Medway it looked wild and uninhabited. Continue reading

Looking at Local Lakes in Leybourne

The lakes have a water sport facility that does not include motorised boats offering board sailing, kayaking, swimming and scuba diving. Gravel pits may not be the best but the park is a pleasant place set in what was once a dull and dreary region dominated by a cement works and scruffy industrial plots. They are still there but on my visit I was barely aware of them. Continue reading

Go Down to Kingsdown

The day, was a good one, sunny with a cool breeze and the worry of rain gone for the time being, so we decided that going to the coast would be a good idea.  We had bad news on the … Continue reading
